Winter tyres, grip, and driving style

Good winter tyres matter most for safety – far more than all-wheel drive alone. AWD can help you get moving on slippery roads, but tyres decide braking distance and lateral grip. Keep a steady speed, avoid sudden acceleration, and use regen carefully on ice.

Charging when it is cold

Fast charging can be slower in the cold until the battery warms up. Arriving with a warmer battery – for example after motorway driving – often unlocks better charging power. Allow a little extra time at winter stops, and avoid charging from a nearly empty battery when you have a choice. Keep the cable and connector free of ice, and use outdoor chargers rated for winter.
