New vs used EV in Norway
When used makes most sense for the budget, and when new is worth it — with catalog prices where we have them, without invented depreciation or battery health.
What actually separates new and used
New gives a warranty and newer technology, but a higher purchase price. Used gives more car for the money in a mature Norwegian market, but you must check history. We do not have battery health, Finn prices, or future residual value.
Compare total cost over the ownership period. When you have a specific car, use plate lookup. The new-car process is in buying a new EV step by step.
When new more often makes sense
When you need the newest charging and range, the longest warranty, or requirements that only newer models meet. Then uncertainty around the battery and previous use matters more than saving on the purchase.
When used more often makes sense
When the budget is tight, you mostly drive locally, and you are willing to check history. A 2–4-year-old car often hits a good compromise — that is a rule of thumb, not a depreciation curve we have calculated.
What the catalog shows about price
Right now the catalog has 159 models. 133 are listed as available new, 25 are marked as no longer new. This is catalog status, not the Finn market.
Among known catalog prices: 16 under 250 000 kr, 40 between 250 000 and 400 000 kr, 102 over 400 000 kr.
Median known catalog price among cars listed as new: 532 000 kr.

The catalog is not Finn. We do not have SoH, depreciation, or future sale value. Ranked used shortlists live on used under 300 000 kr.
